For me this weekend was a moment of metamorphosis, a singularity of personal transformation. I am attending the Green Festival in Seattle along with tens of thousands of other seekers of a greener world. It's a two-day events, Saturday and Sunday March 28-29, featuring over 150 authors and speakers, more than 350 green vendors, and thousands of people who are self-organizing, connecting, building new relationships that will transforms their lives, their communities, and - I think it is clear - the world.
One change I notice immediately: a show of tens of thousands of people, hundreds of vendors and business people, and no one, absolutely no one is wearing anything resembling a business suit.
I will be blooging on my experience here over the next several days, and already I have some things have me very excited. For example, I will show you my discussion with a Boeing Aerospace engineer who holds several solar-energy related patents and has advanced the use of solar ovens around the world. I will share highlights of several engaging presentations about transforming local economies. We will also get to meet the plastic-bag monster.
We'll it's time to get my cup of Fair Traded organic coffee and vegan, organic donuts from a local Seattle bakery. I had some yesterday and it beats Starbucks handsdown!
